Equality
At Thornton Hough Primary School we are committed to ensuring that we promote equality for all members of our school community (children, staff, parents, governors and visitors). We aim to do this through our school policies and how we deliver our curriculum.
We also aim to promote a global understanding of equality issues . We fully accept our responsibility to educate our children in all areas of equality and address any behaviour that affects the equality of others.
The Equality Act became law in 2010. It covers everyone in Britain and protects people from discrimination, harassment and victimisation. Everyone in Britain is protected. Under the Equality Act, there are nine Protected Characteristics:

- Religion or belief
- Marriage or civil partnership
- Sex
- Sexual orientation
- Pregnancy and maternity
